H27 Mast step

It looks like my mast is settling down into the cabin. It is depressed around the cabin top and the floor is depressed at the base of the wood column in the cabin. Would someone who has removed the mast tell me how the mast step area is set up. Also has any one noted a slow collapse of the base of the mast wood column in the cabin? It looks like the cabin floor pan needs to be cut out and the mast base replaced. Before cutting the floor out, what does the stringer and base look like. Has anyone been here and done that?

Read Roland on "The MAST, what gives?"

Although he was writing about a Cherubini h30 of the same age on 9/18, his description of the mast step above the cabin corresponds exactly to what I see in my h27. I will be taking the step and ofther material in the cabin roof apart this winter to replace failed components. Lady Lillie has no depression in the floor at the base of the compression post, however. I would guess that this means the glass covered wooden grid under the floor liner is decomposing. I hope someone else may have dealt with that problem. Good Luck! David
