The "Tall Rig" is a model name not a configuration. Hunter advertises a single mast length of 36'3" for its h27 Cherubini used in both deep and shoal keel configurations. There is no factory rigged short or standart configuration. Back in the late 70's early 80's high aspect sails were in vogue so the tall masts and tall configurations became attractive. It is my guess that for some year models the Tall Rig was added to the model name to gain a marketing edge. Sorry if I dispel the notion that your boat stands tall among its sibblings. The h27 was a well built boat but designed to be the least expensive model in its class. It was a no frills boat with little equipment and undersized components. Different configurations was not in the economic plan. The boats are heavy and beamy with ample storage. This is a true pocket cruiser and with ample wood work in the cabin I would not trade it for one of the new ones. A nicely equiped one will fetch upwards of $10K.
