On my 2001 H260 there is a molded storage area in the forward most area of the v-berth, under an oval shaped board. Can anyone tell what this is for. I'm sure it for an option that I didn't opt for. My dealer didn't know what it was for either... Thanks

In our 26h

the oval shaped compartment holds an oval shaped table and stand that can be set up in the cockpit. It's not convenient to get to, but it does make a nice accoutrement at the dock on a pleasant morning.

Interestingly

The table is the same table used in H23.5. Mark

Its a pet holder

As a boat owner you need to ensure a nice place for you pet to reside. Place a nice pillow in this area for them to lay in and they won't sleep on your head in the berth!!! Jim S/V Java

That gives me an idea!

Since the table that fits there is no longer available, maybe I could fix that area to hold my grill. Joe C. in NC '01 H260 Windward Passage

Cover

I cut out a piece of plywood to cover the “table hole” (so the V berth is intact) and keep the table behind the steps leading into the cabin. It fits nicely between the steps and the foam pad and is ready in a hurry for happy hour. And, you can hide those illegal vegetables your trying to smuggle into the country - in the table storage area.

Table hole

The newer H260's don't have the cockpit table. We were curious about that molded area too and found out from Hunter what is was for. Apparently the h26 and early 260 has a square hole/bracket in the sole of the cockpit to mount a table. (which was stored in the v-berth)The table was still mentioned in the brochure for the 2001.
