I just got my trailerable 260 in the water. The yard that serviced my Nissan 9.whatever HP outboard screwed up with the remote throttle cables. I cannot get the engine in forward or reverse gear anymore. Where can I get info on how to repair this? Does anyone know a reliable dealer/yard in the Chicago area that services Hunters, Nissan engines and that can repair this. Also, I cannot tilt/lift the engine out of the water when sailing. They screwed this up as well. Last question. Can you get up to the top of the mast with a bosun chair on a H260 (center board and water ballast)? Thanks! JDK

Heck if they screwed it up

make them fix it. Some outboards won't raise unless it is in forward or reverse, so that may be why you can't tilt it out of the water.

No on Bosuns..

I wouldn't go up in the mast in fear of heeling the boat over. I bet only 2 or 3 hundred lbs hanging from the top of the mast is all that is required to put it on its side. It is so easy to lower the mast on these boats, I'd bring the problem down to me rather than go up to the problem (and raise one or two more in the process). fair winds, Tom

That's what kids are for!

Each of my daughters has gone up the mast in a bosuns chair. They loved it. Abeit, both were under 100 pounds. We secured the main to the chair and used the winch to do the work. We used the jib halyard as a safety, should the main fail. Tricky part is you need 1 person to winch, 1 to tail and 1 to constantly take up the slack on the safety. Ron Mehringer h26 Hydro-Therapy

H260 throttle and other problems

Thanks for the feedbacks! 1) Ashley: Have them fix it? They just hang up the phone on me. Awfull customer service.... 2) Tom: Yes, it makes sense to bring the mast down but on a boat that's floating at its mooring??? To get it out of the H2O would be a major logistical problem. 3) Ron: My kids are scared of going up there and I am 200lbs (see Tom's comments). Any further words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all.
