H260 Stay Tension Specs

How do the experienced H260 sailors on this forum check the tension of their stays? Do you use a gage? Are there published specs on tension - or on deflection?

I've been trusting to judgement 'that's about right' - but I'm betting there are more precise standards I should be following.

I use the following spec's and the small PT-1 Loos gauge.

I found that my "just about right" was 20 lbs light. It's a stiff rig with little slack on the leeward side.
