I really don't like the way the reef and outhaul lines work on the H260. My next project is to run reef and outhaul lines back to the cockpit. I'll put a couple of blocks at the base of the mast for the lines and organizers attached to the deck to lead the lines back. I'll then add clutches for each line. My biggest concern where to put the the organizers and clutches and how to attach them to the deck. Does backing already exist in some locations that I can use? Don't want them to pull out or crack the deck. Thanks for any ideas.

You might consider...

I am in the process of installing an outhaul that will be mounted on the boon. I have just purchased a loose footed main and need to be able to adjust the outhaul quickly and easily. Someone suggested that I might want to just run the line from the mast end of the boon to the cockpit but I rejected it for 2 reasons: 1. There are already too many lines cluttering things up and 2. I think it would be difficult to get any real power out of that system. The blocks in the boon are less than efficient. You might look at a link posted into a thread I started last week about the 260 outhaul. As far as the reefing is concerned, it appears to me that the way my 99 260 is setup, I will have to go to the mast in any case to either secure or remove the sail from the horn. Having a line going to the cockpit would just be redundant. Perhaps your boat is set up differently.
