H260 Portlight Problems

When I bought the boat it had a crack in the lower radius of the heads portlight. This was causing rainwater to leach in. I filled the crack with a 2 pack apoxy which has stopped any leak. Today I was cleaning the same type portlight of the galley and there is a hairline crack on the lower radius.
I have tried a search with no avail so basically I am asking if anyone else is experiencing this or if there is a known problem with these portlights/fitting/construction?
Cheers for any replies in advance.

I believe they can crack if the dog knobs are tightened too tight.

SBO sells replacement ports
Apologies but I'm a Brit based in the Mediterranean and SBO means nothing to me. I have tried to Google it and I know I don't have a Small bowel obstruction:biggrin:

"SBO" is Sailboatowners.com, this very website. Go to the home page and look for the Forum Store.

These look like the Hunter standard Bomar Gray Series port-lights now made by Pompanette Mine are the same, but in white.

What do yours look like on the inside? Mine mount from the inside, and the bezel on the outside is strictly decorative to cover the gap in the cabin opening.

Old one being removed.

New one installed from the inside.

The lens will crack if tightened too much .. Usually, the gasket gets compressed and a tab on the lens bottoms on part of the frame instead of tightening more onto the gasket.. More tightening after bottoming will crack the lens.. The newer Gray ports with the "T" shaped gasket are much better in this regard..
Note that the gap between the port spigot and the cabin should be completely filled/sealed and covered by the bezel so that no water can get into the core and rot it.. No need for sealant on the inside.. a little thin butyl is OK, but not necessary on the inside.

It is the frames that have cracked on mine, not the lens. I did give miss info on my earlier post as in, mine does have an outside bezel, my damn eyesight:banghead:
Unfortunately as usual, with the shipping costs and duties charged there is no chance they with be getting replaced unless they become a total basket case, then I'll have to think again.

I searched for a distributor closer to you in the Med, but was unsuccessful online.
