Hi All,I have a 1999 H260 (WB), and just started to race in local PHRF "fun races" that don't allow a spinnaker. My 1st PHRF race was last week. I found a PHRF rating of 222 on the web, but in retrospect, that seems pretty low. I was against several Thunderbirds (26 foot plywood hulled, fin keeled boats) and they out ran and out pointed me pretty easily. They are PHRF rated at about 213. They are fractional rigs and sail 150% genoas. We race in Boston Harbor, mostly inside, occasionally race outside in open water. One thing some of the experienced racers suggested was tightening up my rig. I do get a little headstay sag to leeward and wonder if I should just tighten the headstay, or also adjust the lower shrouds (or any other adjustments)? I run through the sequence outlined in my manual at the beginning of each season.Does anyone use a genoa? My club makes no PHRF adjustment for jib vs. genoa, so a larger head sail would provide an advantage with no penalty. I have the standard, hank on jib; no roller furler.Any other advice would be appreciated.Thank you and regards, Tom Warneke s/v Prime Time in Boston Harbor
