H260 New Porthole Question

I finally received the 2 complete operating portholes I ordered for my H260. (It took forever to get them 5-6 weeks, definitely not 2-3).The others had simply disintegrated on me. I assume the outside frame assembly stays attached to the fuselage and I just re-insert and re-use the 4 screws and re-install. The old portholes came right out, so my question is shouldn't I be applying some type of silicone sealant around the edges for a more watertight fit?

The manufacturers use Dow I think 795 which has been used successfully for many years and suggest using that. If I am incorrect on the number, please correct me

Hi, please can you tell me, did you obtain the portholes through Hunter or from elsewhere. For bedding them in I would use something like http://www.marineadhesive.nl/products/msr-ca-construction-adhesive

Well I have the portholes in place and they look good. I didn't get them from Hunter, they don't exist; got them indirectly from sailboatowners.com, who orders them from a company in New Hamshire, who has a small plant in Tampa. Want to check on an order from them? Good luck. Anyway I used Boatlife Flexseal, silicone polyurethane, black and messy but it worked. I also watched a video that helped quite a bit (
). I want to thank everyone for their input.

Stick with Dow as it has been the best sealant used industry wide for sealants for years which has proven itself

CD, remember I'm in Europe and it's all down to what is available here. The post asked a question and I gave a reply to the type of sealer I would use, not to plug the manufacturer.
I also would not be brash enough to say Dow was the best, If it's been about for that many years it must be old hat!! Time for new kids on the block.
