This weekend is shaping up to be a boat project weekend as weather reports are calling for 35 - 40 mph winds...last time I ignored those warning it proved to be exciting to say the least.... so I am going through the list. This one is about the trailer lights.

I have a standard Hunter 260 magic tilt trailer with the extending tounge. Being inquisitive I wanted to see how the trailer extension work so I undid the pin, pulled out the extension out by hand, put it back into place. Now lights do not work. Should have left well enough alone. We leave the boat at the mast up lot so it has not been a priority to fix.

I tested the plug at the truck and the pig tail and there is power. The wiring goes into the trailer and runs through the length of the extension tounge, exiting a few fett aft of the pin. All I can assume is that a wire got pinched in the extension arm when I pulled it out.

Is there just a bunch of extra wire balled up to allow the tounge to extend or a quick disconnet I did not unhook.?

if I have to get to the wire in the extension, how....or is it just easier to cut the wires and run new external wiring with quick disconnect when you wantt to extend the tounge?

Thanks

Tim

First thing I would check is the ground wire from the plug to the tongue. If this wire, connector or connection is broken or too corroded no lights will not work. The wires should be continuous through the tongue and exit at the aft end of the tongue tube and go to a point on the port side of the frame that is at about the mid point of the extended and retracted locations with just a slight bit of additional slack. No disconnects, extra wire etc. needed. If you need an image let me know and I can take a photo of my trailers wiring at the tongue.
