In keeping with the companion thread asking about an anchor roller (among other things) for a Hunter 26 ... I have a more specific question for H260 owners. The anchor roller that came with my 1999 H260 works great - but since I purchased a new 14 # Delta anchor - the anchor will NOT hang from it. Questions:

1) Is there an anchor roller specifically made for the Delta anchor - such that it will dock there - I won't have to lift it into the anchor locker each time?
2) If so - is it a direct replacement with the existing anchor roller? Ideally - I would remove the three (or four?) screws - remove the old roller and install the new.

I strongly recommend this Delta Anchor (with 12' of chain BTW) - especially if you are cruising. We were cruising on the Tennessee River earlier this spring when a sudden storm came up (MM 114 just for the record) - I had roughly four minutes to deploy the anchor and get the boat ready for the storm (luckily the sails were already down - we were motoring at the time). It hit - had 60 mph gusts - we were in the cabin riding it out ... bottom line - the Delta held - no dragging.

Tom;

I have sailed on the Tennessee River as well and the wind speed is highly unusual. Not sure what part of the river or where but most anchors do work on that river.
There are many submerged items in the rivers and one suggestion to all is to put a trip line on the back of an anchor to tie off to a floating fender because if the anchor gets caught, you can pull it up from the rear which worked everytime for me with my danforth anchors.

Thanks Dave

Dave - you're correct - 60 MPH WAS unusual for the Tennessee. It was a very large thunderstorm - wrong place at the wrong time situation. It only lasted about 5 minutes - the gusts only a minute or so ... but again - we were thankful the anchor held. I do have a trip line on the anchor - just in case.

Dave - have you heard of anyone removing the stock anchor roller on the 260 and replacing it with one made specifically for a Delta (or plow type) anchor?

One more detail - Mile Marker 114 - was about 10 miles South (upriver) from Pebble Isle Marine.

Tom, Not sure where that is. I am familiar to some extent on the part near Knoxville down to Chattanooga. The folks along the river are great to include Fort Loundan and Tellico (snail darter lake to some)

The area where the anchor roller is attached has an aluminum plate encapsulated in the fiberglass. Yes you can remove and put another anchor holder in but put sealant in the holes so no leaks. Always prdrill with small bit to see you do get metal shards coming out to make sure you are drilling into the aluminum plate. Sorry cannot help you on the type of anchor roller you are asking about. Anyone, can you help us here.
