I dropped the mast today to find out why my neither my mast or steamer lights didn't come on. I'm pretty sure they had worked before when I stepped the mast a year ago.

On testing with a meter I found I was only getting 6 or 7 volts from the mast and or steamer light socket. Upon further investigation I found breaks in the wire within the mast light housing for the mast and steamer lights as well as down within the deck connector.

I need to replace all of these items. The cable and deck connector. The Mast and Steamer light assembly.

Can someone suggest where I can get these parts as a complete assembly or is it necessary to gather up these parts from various parts suppliers?

thank you

Parts

I think the Hunter factory sells parts. The items you need should be available at a number of marine stores.

You have to buy them separately, Hunter had the spar manufacturer install the mast wireing, in my case US Spars.

It isn't that hard to replace the wireing as you should have conduits inside the mast to pull through. Use the existing wire to pull some twine through as a pull cable, and use the twine to pull the new wire, and a spare pull line.you may also have to remove the mast base to access the conduits (I did). I used 16ga tinned wire from genuinedealz.com when I installed my led spreader lights this spring.

Parts form Hunter

The deck connector always gave me problems. I replaced mine 3 times in the 15 years we owned the boat. I called Hunter for the parts and the turn around was pretty quick.

I think you could get three conductor DC cable from West Marine

The other place I ran into problems was corrosion in the light fixtures. Clean them up with some sandpaper and coat with silicon dialectric compound or vaseline.

Check your bulbs after trailering to make sure they didn't pop loose or break as well from the road bumps.

Ah.. for a while there I didn't think I'd get a response.
I'm finding the pieces of the puzzle "except" for the marine deck connector?
It's a Perko Model 1196 mast&steamer light fixture on top of the mast, with a 3 line 16 gauge round cable running up through the mast.
But??? I can only find a 2 pole Perko Male&Female connector for the deck. I very much want to replace all these parts if I can.

Does anyone have a source for a 3 pole deck connector.

When I was checking the lights at the very beginning with a meter. It was my impression that I was getting power to the light on both bulbs with the cabin switch in "either" setting, the mast setting and the steamer setting. Maybe this Perko light only needs a 2 line round cable?

your comments please

Hunter told me they outsourced the mast construction. They couldn't help me

Check with West Marine

The light is a Perko Combination Anchor steaming light. One bulb light for steaming both for anchoring it is a common light and all the stores probably stock it. Fore the deck fitting order the AquaSignal one it is not stocked in the store but is available through the catalog. The ones that came with the boat and the West Marine brand ones in stock at the store are poor at best not worth the minimal extra expense to get one that is trouble free. You are not going to find a 3 pole fitting go with the 4 and double up on the ground with the extra pin.

The chandlery on the website right here maybe able to get all the parts for you might as well give them the nickle as they do more for you than West Marine does.

Most West Marine locations do stock a nice chrome plated brass 2 or 4 conductor deck fitting, but finding it on their website is next to impossible. I just installed the 4 conductor one for my spreader lights last week, and other than the fact that it is still shiny, and the original deck connector is not, it's an exact match to the 3 conductor steaming / anchor light connector that is original and on the opposite side of the mast.

Ok gentlemen that's answer's my questions. I'll go with a 4 pole connector then and hope the female half fits the hole in the deck, it should I expect.

I don't see a 3 wire tinned "round" cable except for one listed for the bilge pump cable at WM. I might be able to get what I need here in Panama.

Now to get them order and back on the water!

thanks
