I am thinking of using Spinlock PX cleats for my jib sheet lines ????

my friend with a 270 has what you are thinking of

They are mounted foward of the winches where the rope clutches are now. It works well but when single handing you still need to come foward. Someone has suggested mounting them aft a bit. I am using the stern docking cleats for single handing but if the wind is higher than ten knots I go home with sore arms or switch to the winches and jam cleats provided.

Cam Cleats

I put a pair of Harken cam cleats on the "ears" at the top of the companionway. The jib sheets lead fair from the winches, and it's easy to release. Harvey Small H-26 Waiting for the Sun

Cam cleats for me too.. soon.

My cam cleats on risers are all set to be installed this weekend. Holes have been drilled for weeks, just could not figure out how to get the nuts, washers and little beveled piece ready.. Finally decided to drill 1 inch holes in the liner and use white plastic caps formthe hardware store to "cover" the holes. I have pre-assembled the washer, nuts and beveled piece and hot glued then into a single unit. I let you know if it works. Take care, Jim "Grizzly Bear" Loats

Where are you mounting new cleats?

I don't like the stock racing cleats on the jib line and am considering buying some Harkin cam-matic cleats. Are you leaving the stock cleats in place? Where are you mounting the new cleats?

Cam Cleats for Jib Sheets Are ON !

After seven trips to various stores (West Marine(3x), Eagle Hardware (3x) and Lumber yard (1x), I finally got them installed last night and they are wonderful. Michael, I am not sure how your 260 is set up, but on my 26 I mounted these cam cleats (with angled risers) on the nearly vertical surface beside the companionway about 2 inches down from the right side of each winch. Preassembling the washer-wedge-nut combination worked out great. Otherwise I wouldn't have had enough fingers or space to hold all the pieces in place.

Spinlock OK

I installed the Spinlock PX on our H26 and am quite happy with them. I really need more singlehanding time with them to be sure, but they are relatively inexpensive at $60 and they fit right on the pad where the existing horn cleats are. If you don't like them, it is easy to revert to your original cleats. It does take the winches out of the sheeting process, but so far I've been able to easily handle the load without the winches.
