I'm considering purchase of a used h26. can anyone tell me of any differences between the 26 and the 260 other than the transom?? I know both are water ballast, and the layout of the interior seems to be similar. thanks nate jackson

Nate, I looked at both boats. Right off the bat I can tell you of two differences. One, The boat(H260) has a real forward hatch on the bow deck vs the 26 which has the hatch mounted on the windscreen. Secondly, it has two operating seat compartments where the 26 has only one. The second compartment allows you a view and air circulation when you are using the transom bunk. Were you looking at a used H26 in Tallahassee?

Besides the price difference

Nate, The biggest difference will probably be the cost. At a recent boat show, the dealer quoted a base price on a new 260 that is higher than I paid for my 96 H26 with the the trailer, outboard and options. Some other differences, an improved water system, partial batten instead of full batten mainsail, mast support struts, deeper head floor to permit installing a marine head, improved ground tackle arrangement and bow roller. There is a locker above the galley, the Origo 2 burner stove haas been replaced by a 1 burner butane model. There is more wood down below, as they replaced the lexan fiddles with teak. I believe the head door got a teak veneer treatment, but I can't remember for sure. You also lose the opening ports in the head and above the galley. It may just be a matter of the deal you can finagle. Mike Pajewski H26 "Loon"

best of

Best of 260 , rear hach open to light in rear berth , bilt in head, front hach in deck. H26 better rutter it sinks and does not need to be tied down, better rudder head (260 it is the smallest part of the rutter). Main sail has full battens in it, better boom,
