Is the Centerboard bracket for a 1994 H26 made of SS? The reason I ask is while reading archive posts, I came across a posting where the bracket had corroded to the point the welds came apart. I would think if SS, it should not corrode like that, unless perhaps the boat is left in the water, maybe due to electrolysis. New brackets are available and they are SS.

What kind of problems should I lookout for on a 94' with regard to the mounting hardware for the CB?

Yes it is stainless and sometimes welds can come apart. Although stainless, stainless steel over time can be affected by water but not like regular steel though. There could also be impurities in the stainless particularly that Chinese junk.

Okay thanks Dave. Has it been rare that you've heard about those welds failing? With some luck hopefully the one I'm getting will be in good shape.

The Centerboard Bracket on my 240 (1999) failed as you described about two years ago. What happened is both vertical plates had a lower portion (about 2") that was welded on and both of these welds failed. The stainless plates looked just fine. I keep the boat in salt water for about 5 months a year. I had a local welding shop rebuild the bracket using salt water rated stainless.
