when you take them out? Is there a resting place designed into the boat and I didn't find it? (like the cockpit table. I had to email the previous owner to find that)

Bin boards are the boards that close the

back of the cabin. You take them out to get into or out of the boat. Ours are angled on the ends. It's always a hassle to stow the bin boards, but it's a great system. When they're out, there are no doors in the way. As I work on the boat, I worry about scratching the plastic boards. Since the H26/260 is so well thought out in many ways, I wonder if there's a spot designed for bin board storage. If no designed spot, where do you experienced owners put 'em? They're called bin boards because fishing boats use a nearly identical system to create "bins" for ice and fish both on deck and in the fish hold. The fish boat bin boards are square on the ends, often all the same size on a particular boat.

Back bed

We place the boards on the back bed. My wife made a cloth bag similar to what is sold on this site. We will use it or some times just space them out on the sleeping bag so thay don't rub against each other. Not a great system. I like George's idea and will try it. Maybe in the bag and then stuffed next to the cooler.

Thanks George, Yes, I mean

companioway hatch boards. Next to the cooler looks like the spot. I'll take it for a test drive next time I'm on the boat. Do you think Hunter planned it that way?

H260 Hatch Boards

Not sure if Hunter planned it that way but they fit nicely next to the cooler. Put them in by size with the longest first then the top board with the hasp in last. Under the aft matress will work just fine also. I don't really worry about getting them scratched. At the beginning of each season I revarnish the wood ones and sand the lexan ones to get the scratches out.

I replaced my CHB with folding boards that

make it a hatch or door. You can see what I did in the Hunter photo forum under 260, improvements. We think that it is one of the better improvements that I have done with Baums Rush. We are currently on the ST Johns getting ready (24 March) to travel around the Eastern Half of the US or Doing The Great Loop, should take us about 12 - 14 months. John USNret

That's interesting

On my new 25, Hunter made a area under one of the seats in the cockpit specifically for storing the companionway hatch boards. There are actually tabs screwed down in the compartment so that the boards can be stacked and stay in place. Guess this is a sign of continuing improvement.

In the hanging locker...

We also have a cloth bag for the boards and store them vertically (on end) in the hanging locker of our 2001 h260. Make sure there's something hanging to prevent the boards from flopping back and forth as the boat tacks. Paul
