What engine are you using?
What size engine are you planning to use in the future? If you are using a lightweight 2 stroke or a small 4 stroke, you can get away with a smaller motor mount, if you are a smooth water sailor. I hate 2 strokes, and found that my Honda 5 longshaft (20") had only marginal power for my planned uses. It was also inconvenient to use when solo sailing. In order to keep the propellor submerged in lumpy water, I had to keep the mount all the way down, which made the controls very difficult to reach, so it was tough to handle the tiller & control the engine at the same time. I removed the flimsy OEM motor mount from my H25 and replaced it with a big honkin' Garelick offshore mount designed for heavier 4 stroke engines. When I put my Honda 5 (60 lbs) on it, the springs were so strong that I literally had to stand on top of the outboard to force it down into the water. I later bought a Honda 9.9 XLS (28" shaft) electric start engine which I'm very happy with. The engine weighs 110 lbs, so I can now shove the mount down to the lowest position with one hand. The forward/reverse lever & stop button are on the throttle handle, so I never have to look back to run the engine. I can pull into the most crowded dock and focus on what's in front of me. I operate the tiller with my left hand, and the engine with my right, strictly by feel.If you are planning to keep your H25 for a long time, and want to do some voyaging with it, I highly recommend sucking it up and buying a heavy duty mount ($350.00) and extra long shaft, elec. start four stroker ($2800.00).
