I have a 1998 H240. It is equiped with a CDI flexible furler. Does anyone know the PHRF rating?

Guesstimate PHRF for Hunter 240

PHRF ratings vary from place to place, due to differing local conditions (and differing attitudes on the part of handicap committees). I don't know of any clubs issuing a PHRF rating for a 240 with roller furling (which adds a bit), but it's basically the same boat as the 23.5 rated on Lake Lanier at 246 (see http://userwww.service.emory.edu/~isclc/baserate.html) I found several ratings issued for the old Hunter 23, ranging from 240 to 254; so I'm guessing your rating might be "fair" somewhere between 235 and 248. Of course there's no such thing as a fair rating ;)

PHRF

My club gives me a 247. I think its low, they base that on a 150 genny, which I don't have, but I just deal with it. How big is your headsail?

PHRF?

I have a H 240 and now I now I learn through HOW that it has a PHRF of either 246 or 270. Now that I know that, what exactly is a PHRF? Chapman's Piloting doesnt identify such an animal nor do any of my other sailing manuals. Thanks Bill Welsch s/v Renewal

PHRF

PHRF is a handicap system just like in golf. Some races are timed starts, so boats with higher PHRF(slower Boats) start first. Some races start all boats at once, and correct the times based on the PHRF. Thats as much as I understand. Hope it helps. Russell Summer Luvin' Rhudson72@aol.com

Thanks

Thanks for all the responses to H240 PHRF. I have contacted the Chesapeake Yacht Racing Assoc. and am awaiting the "official" rating that I will be racing with. As soon as I recieve it I will post it for other members.
