Has anyone added a short "door" to the back of the cockpit on the H240 where you access the swim ladder. Our little one is finally old enough to start sailing with us. The primary goal of the door would not really be to keep her in the boat, but more to keep the toys from having quite as direct a route to Davy Jones' toy chest.

Was thinking about a small piece of starboard with a hinge in the middle, but am open to suggestion and would love pictures if anyone has done this mod before.

Thanks,

W.

Have you though about a removable board like in your companionway that you can just lift out? Just a couple of strips of starboard to hold it in place and you are done. You may want to notch some spaces at the bottom so water could flow out easily if you get pooped!

Steve, I really like that idea. It would definitely be an easier install than a door. Not to mention less expensive on the hardware side with no latches or hinges to buy.

Charlie, I am looking for options for closing the walk through to the swim ladder, not covering up the swim ladder itself. Sorry i was not clear, but thanks for the response

I do appreciate the input from both of you.

Thanks,

W.

Hey WTA,

I needed to keep my small puppies from diving off the transom so I bought some expandible tubes from a trailer supply store that are designed for keeping stuff from falling off the shelves of a refrigerator in our travel trailer.

Then cut up an old hammock for the netting and threaded it on the tubes. Easy on and off when needed.

I'm one for keeping it simple.
