Whats the longest trip anyone has done an an H240? I did a 4 day trip last summer from Norfolk Va up the Chesapeake, hung a left on the Potomac and sailed up to Aquia. Averaged about 40 miles a day. Had one day of 30 knots right on the nose. Motored all day in solid 5-6 ft waves. The boat did great. My father in law didn't fair as well. Spent most of day hung over rail. The boat was very comfortable for the two of us on this trip. Trailered it home. Would be interested to hear if anyone has done any extended cruising on H240 or H260. Am considering 2 day trip to Ocacroke this year that would require a 2 day weather window as it is all coastal cruising from Va Beach just south past Cape Hatteras.

I wish I could take a month to cruise at one time. You'r lucky. Have you made any modifications to the boat. Do you spend most of the time on the hook or in a transient slip? Has the boat held up well to the extended cruises?

Sean - Modifications

Sean, I have added a lot of stuff to the boat but wouldn't really call them modificaitons. I have added a bimini top, fans, coolers, and lots of navigation stuff. I will be adding a camper top before the trip this year. I just wouldn't go without my autopilot. I spend three days on the hook and then a day in a slip to fill up the ice chests, sun showers, fuel, food etc. Using a boat doesn't hurt it. It's the sitting in the slip or back yard that tears them up (strictly my opinion). Other than a few powerful thunderstorms and a waterspout or two, the boat has done really well. It can get a little scary when the wind gets up but the boat is fine. I carry a 22lb and a 16.5lb Claw anchor along with the original danforth type. If you want to be on the hook, make it a good one and learn how to anchor. Kent S/V Time Out

7 dayer

We spent 7 days (a week) on a large inland lake on a 240. Spent about half and half anchored (protected area) or tied to public docks in campgrounds (no facilities except for outhouse). Spent two nights in comercial slips mainly so we could shower. One day it was like the North Atlantic. We had single reefed main only and were hauling a** on a reach with the wind off the port stern quarter with about 6ft rollers/following seas, Woo Hoo!. Darn knot meter wasn't working then :-( Made our destination in great time! Kinda scary when nobody else is crazy enough to be out in that. All hatches/ports battened down, foul weather gear, life jackets, VHF in pocket....puttin out a wake..... Safe sailing.... Tom

My wife and I spent two weeks aboard our boat for our honeymoon. We started in charleston, SC, and went to Savannah Ga. and back. Most underpower since it was July 1st. I will say it was the best two weeks of my life! I added the following before the trip: 13 gallon fuel tank VHF AM/FM Cassette(life saver) Stern anchor with 100' rode Bow anchor with 300' rode (20 ft chain) Water Mister (pumps up and sprays fine mist) life saver! Sean If you are planning to sail there this summer, how about getting together? You could lob water ballons at this ole buzzle butt. Crazy Dave

Water Ballons

Dave I'm seriously looking at doing the trip this summer. Trying to schedule a week so if the weather is bad I don't have to be out in nasty Atlantic. As for the water ballons, I think you meant "FIRE WATER" I know where you grew up! Happy Sailing
