H240 Compression Post Water Ingress

Hoping to draw on some knowledge from those more clued up than me if possible...

I have some water ingress at the base of the compression post. The boat is on the trailer so it's coming in from above.. my best guess is the keel haul line is wicking water in, does this sound plausible?
is there a way to resolve this?

The base of the post is sitting in damp and has started to rot.

I'd obviously would prefer not to replace the post if I can help it but I know it's an important part of the structural integrity. Also don't want to replace it and still have the same issue...

Any advice on what's causing it and how I recitfy it?

I had this problem last year on my previous '98 240. I first noticed the leak at the base of the compression post when on the trailer, but it was coming from above, down the hose that the uphaul line runs in. The leak was around the plastic thru-hull fitting that guides the centerboard uphaul line through the deck. There is a plastic nut on the bottom/inside that holds that part to the deck. You will need to remove the mast base plate for access and unclamp the corrugated hose from the thru-hull inside the cabin. Remove the thru-hull and all the old sealant. My fitting was in good shape so I just rebedded it with 3M 4200 sealant. If you are careful you can leave the centerboard line in place running through the fitting. Reseal the mast base when putting it back in place. Easy job when the mast is down.
