Kind of a general interest question. Has anyone attempted to add a main traveller to the h235? Looks like it could be done across the front of the cockpit at the seat level. You can get to it from below at the aft berth, so backing could be installed. Should would be nice to have the adjustment, versus the fixed lower ring mount that is now there. With the size of the main for the boat, any additional means of adjustment is a real plus. Mike Yacht "C"

Traveler on H235

Hi Mike, I just got a Hunter 235 with a traveler an its really come in handy when reaching or running. On my boat it hooka up like you describe but I was thinking about moving it to the top of the cabin allowing better access to the cabin entrance. What do you think?

traveler location

I have had two boats with the traveler in the cockpit. On a smaller boat i like it there. i can easily adjust it while skippering. My H25.5 is currently set up with a harken windward sheeting car and it works great. Jeff Johnston

Cockpit preferred

Hey Jeff and Cliff, I would think that the cockpit installation would be closer to the original attachment point of the main sheet (better angle), plus with the uplift of the boom I think that the attachment at the seat level would be more secure. Looks like an easier path to thru bolt to a backing plate of some type. For the cabin mount, you would have to span the cabin opening. I think Harken has some standoff type arrangements, but the mainsheet would end up some distance away from the tiller. I tend to sail my h235 more like a one design, with one hand on the tiller and one on the mainsheet to control that oversized main. I've been on some other boats with the traveler mounted at seat level, and it's not a big deal getting into the cabin. I was more concerned about the actual mechanics of drilling and mounting the components. Any other suggestions?? Thanks, Mike Yacht"C"
