I just finished my 1st haulout of my H23...what an ordeal! It was a bear getting the keel in the keel guide. As it turns out, I had the trailed too deep since I was used to a centerboatd boat which you just float on top of the trailer and you are done. After wasting a few hours, I took some measurements and calculated how deep the heel guide needed to be(21 inches). I attached a fishing float on a 21" line and it was easy from there. Anyone else with similar problems?

Trailer guides

I've put trailer guides on my trailer, upright white pvc pipes to use as a guide onto the trailer. That gets me pretty close, then after winching up to the front bumpers I am there.

guides to direct keel to bumper

gary, I suppose you have the "bunks" on the port and starboard side of the trailer for your h23 also. I came up with an easy way to align the boat into the keel nose bumper every time. I trailer it frequently so I had to figure something out. I bought 2-2x8's, green treated, and about 8 feet long. I have three bunk supports for the hull on each side of my trailer. Yours should be the same if yous is the original. I took a "u" bolt and anchored one end a 2 x8 near the top of the rear support on one side and the slope it down and forward to the bottom , nose of the keel where it hist the flat board that the keel sits on. I then used a wood lag after cutting the 2x8 at angle to anchor it to the flat board. I then did this to the other side. Once your trailer is in the water, the 2x8's are really pretty parallel with the water line under the water. Now all I have to do I just line the boat up between the edges of the trailer at the rear. As long as I have the nose somewhere in between, the keel will guide itself into place as it bumps along the 2x's. Let me know if you have questions @ Stsort@aol.com
