Last Sunday I went aboard a 1984 H22 and loved the feel - spotted a 1985 H23 for sale. According to the specs it's lighter than a 22, only 800 lbs. of ballast - appears to be easier to tow and better performance? - would appreciate your advice...

Depends......

Jack, I have no experience with a H22 but... comparing the specs for the two, there are differences that would warrent a "ride" on a 23 before you buy. I personally had a H23 for a couple of years. It's a GREAT boat but by-no-means a perfect boat. The 23 can be a bit of a handfull as far as sailing, rigging and trailering is concerned, but personally, I feel the performance ride of a 23 is well worth that price. Greg S2 9.2C S/V Impulsive

I have a 22 hunter

I've had a 22 for 17 years and love it. I keep it looking like new. I pull it with a full size chevy pickup with no problem. I sail in lake michigan which gets pretty rough at times and the boat handles it just fine. Yes it is heavier than the 23.The boat has alot more teak which I like the look of and I think it sails better, than the 23. happy sailing George s/v Tangerine
