One other mod I've made...I've seen some good mods with the outhaul/reef line. What I do is pull the reefing line tight back at mast base, then tie a nylon sail strap thru the hole around the mast. This gives it some vertical pulling power as the reef line pulls mostly horizontal the closer you get the aft reef point to the mast.
