I have a 88 h23 with a Furlex furler (previous owner or factory installed). The furler works fine but I'm concerned about the amount of rake I have. In strong wind, the weather helm is substantial and I would like to try decreasing the rake. My question is.. How do I adjust the length of the forestay. Do I need to remove the drum? If so, how do I do that? Also, what kind of routine maintainance needs to be done to the furling system. Steve S/V Salt Shaker

Mine is a CDI, but… Something must hold the drum down – otherwise the jib halyard would just pull the drum and all up the front stay. Mine has a pin through the drum assembly. Under the drum assembly is a turn buckle – has you might expect. Also, check how the furler is attached to the boat. Mine uses tangs – so there could be some adjustment there.
