I looked at a 1986 H23 yesterday and I could not figure out how the anchor rode was to be run. I noticed a 6" cleat mounted inside the anchor locker on the port side but I couldn't figure out how the line was to go from there out to the topsides and over the side. Any ideas for one who doesn't seem to grasp the idea¿

H23 anchor rode

I had the same question. The only way I found was to run the anchor line on the port side of the bow pupit under the small bar forward of the anchor locker and into the locker and adjust the rode lenght at the cleat. Mark Price S/V Wendy Lee

I think you got it

The cleat in the anchor locker is where you tie off the rode. I wouldn't run the line under anything either, because it only gives the line somewhere else to snag. My H23 came with a stout cleat through-bolted crossways on the foredeck. From the cleat, the rode runs across the top of the anchor locker and off the bow into the water. I rarely anchor more than overnight so chafe isn't a problem. One more hint...if yoy close one of the anchor locker covers, you'll have somewhere to stand when working at the bow but still have enough room for the rode to get in/out of the locker. Happy anchoring. Peter H23 "Raven"
