I am :doh:wondering if there is a web site to buy sell or trade used sail items?

I need :redface:a huge and growing number of items; auto pilot,storm jib,VHF radio,and it just keeps growing.

BTW - Whenever I buy something for the boat, it's always classified as "safety gear." The Admiral can't argue with that... well, most of the time, anyway! :D

Start here, as in top of the page under "Classifieds". Several sailing towns have consignment stores where you can pick up on some deals. Some of those have websites so just Google "sailing consignment" or "used xxxxx". And don't forget E-Bay. Half the stuff on my boat is from E-Bay, much of it new but at much reduced prices.

Posiden has determined that only the rich or smart shall sail at sea. Either pony up the $$$$ or get creative.

For the record, I've never seen an autopilot, VHF radio, or sail that some one is getting rid of that I would want to put on my boat. Another way of putting it would be; do you really want to go to sea with second hand safety items? Safety items being Mark's termonology.

The internet is a wonderful place where you can at least find the lowest outragious price.

Gear for a new boat

There are wedding showers and baby showers. I think there ought to be new boat showers where anything bought for the new boat in the first year is considered a gift. Friends and relatives are encouraged to make donations as well. The admiral can't argue with gifts.
