I need to replace some of my sail slugs on my 94 Hunter 23.5 It appears to have the original Z Spar mast and Doyle sail. I forgot to check the size etc. of the slugs before leaving the boat and now it's a 2 hr drive back to it. I'm hoping to go to West Marine in Spokane Wa. tomorrow and pick up the parts. Does anyone know the size of those little plastic things(slugs?) that slide into the mast on this boat/setup? Also how do you open up the plastic clip (attached to the sail) and then slip the new slug into it mine doesn't have a screw or anything? Is there an upgraded slug/setup I should be considering? Thanks in advance. Hoping to go back out sailing Tuesday if I can get the parts!

I have a Hunter 23. I measured the slugs a while ago to answer a similar post. The slugs on my H23 main are 3/8" diameter and 1 1/4" long. I would guess the 23.5 to be about the same... You can buy replacement shackles to attach the slugs to the sail that have a small stainless screw to attach them to the slug. Easy to do.
