Anyone know where I can get a replacement rubber gasket for a 1994 H23.5 front hatch? Mine is ripped and is leaking .
Also, best price for a boomkicker for this model? Ran the topping lift through the boom, and the teeth on the end are not gripping the line, think I would be better off with the boom kicker?
Interested in any mods people have done to their H23.5, to get some ideas.
Thanks in advance, happy sailing!

Have you looked closely at the clutch? Are you having trouble with the clutches for the outhaul and reefline? Getting the clutches on the boom to hold takes a little technique. This is a pretty simple device and I'd want to be sure it is defective before investing in a boomkicker. Maybe the line needs replacing?

The boomkicker is a great product but if you rig the boat very often you might wish you'd stayed with the stock setup.

The 23.5 is very similar to the H240/H26/H260. You might want to look at the knowledgebases for those models at this link: http://sbo.sailboatowners.com/index.php?option=com_bengine&task=2&brand=2&Itemid=167

Also the H260 website has a lot of tips that might be useful: http://h260.com

I just used stick-on weather strip to replace the gasket on our 23.5. However, the original, which lasted only a few years, was mounted to the deck side of the hatch opening. When I replaced the gasket, I stuck it to the hatch, where it was less likely to get pulled of by kids climbing in and out of the hatch.

I don't recall off hand, what size line is used for the topping lift, but, could the line you are using be too small for the clutch to grab it? Just a thought.

Thanks all! The weather stripping idea I will deft. use! Topping lift line is one year old.
I think the clutch is bad, the reefing lines seem to be the same size and they are gripping, I am going to switch the order of lines, put the reefing line where the topping lift is, and put a figure 8 knot, that should hold it. I think the clutch is just bad. I don't like that whole set up at the end, you can't access it easily if something jams, or breaks.
Thanks for your help!

got it to work

Ok, went down to the boat the other day, put on the main and jib, and played with the topping lift, and now the clutch is biting in, but I tied the free end around the boom. I would think there would be a cleat as back up in case the clutch failed?
So I think I am going to skip the boom kicker this season.
Anyone ever use the stove that came with these boats?, mine looks new, unused. I was considering getting a grill instead, but where to mount it?

We have used our stove quite a bit, for everything from boiling water for tea to cooking complete meals. We've not had any problems with it so far, and it does quite well. Some f our favorite meals afloat are from the book "Two Burner Gourmet".

We have a non-marine grill that we carry ashore and use only on land if we beach or are at dock.

Stove

I have used my original stove frequently. Just a word of caution - fill the alcohol "sponge" outside the cabin and cap your can of alcohol before you return it to storage. Wipe any spills or overflow carefully before igniting the stove. Alcohol burns with an almost invisible flame so use caution when using the stove and extinguishing the flame.

As far as the thru the boom support line/ clutch, mine never worked well so I tie off the boom support line at the end of the boom to suport it before I drop the sail.
