I have been trying to find a permanent mounted swim ladder for my '82 Hunter 22. I've checked all the online retailers, sent Hunter an email, even looked into custom manufacturers. I have seen numerous pictures of people with ladders, just don't know where they got them. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Todd, TIQ shows several off-the-shelf ladders and they also do custom fabrication of stainless items. http://www.topsinquality.com/ladders.htm Dave Crowley s/v Wind Dreamer

West Marine

Mine came from West Marine. It's just a ladder. It's not specific to any model.

What we did

I called tops in quality as well, Price was a little high, so I went to Fawcettes marine in Annapolis. They had a telescoping transom ladder for around $100. They explained how to make a backing plate with a peice of plywood soaked in epoxy, and gave me the bolts and fender washers. Hope this helps. I am not sure how far you are from Annapolis.

Great Suggestion, Thanks!

I thought about going with the telescoping type, but, I was looking for something a little more OEM. My other concern with the telescoping style is how they mount flush on the transom. A few inches of toe room is kinda nice to have. TIQ has exactly what I was looking for, however, I haven't called for prices yet. Thanks to all that replied. When internet search engines let you down it's nice to know this forum is around to help. Thanks again.

Ladder

I found mine on eBay by west marine for $60 new. What I can't figure out is why they still sell these ladders at thier stores for $160.

another swin ladder

This one came with the boat. Very nice and sturdy and extends well beneath the boat for easy acess and keeps your toes far enough away from the transom to be comfortable.

Model Number?

Mark, I don't suppose you remember the model number of your ladder? The one you bought for $60 looks great. I went to West Marine and found some that are close in style, but, not as nice as yours. Thanks, Todd

Ladder

Model # 5497136 And just to let you know that in order to get it to work, I had to use some 1" handrail fittings to mount it. This did 2 things: 1) it raised it up enough so that it didn't drag in the water 2) since H22 do not have any stanchion posts aft of the cabin, it gave me a place to mount a magma grill.

cheap swin ladders for sail boats

Todd. I built my own swim ladder cheap. Find a M/H salvage outfit. Check out their salvaged ladders from the back of M/H. They come in various lengths and shapes. Find one that is damaged a little bit. I boughr one for ten dollars. I salvaged what I needed, and with a little work I made my ladder. You will have to fabrtcate your mounting platss from stainless steel or some alloy. This is no big deal. Buy one that folds. Good luck.
