I'm a new owner of a Hunter 22'. It's swing keel broke loose on the former owner, it wore the peg and other fittings, eventually wearing a hole in the boat and it sank. I'm now trying to repair it and am looking for references as to what a proper swing keel fitting would look like. Any ideas where I might find such knowledge? Thanks for any suggestions. Annie...

Annie, I replaced the ceterboard pin on my H22, which was rotted into 3 pieces. This pin is 1/2" stainless steel and mounts to (2) brackets at each side of the bottom centerboard housing. I can't imagine that these brackets, at least one of them, is still not attached to your boat. They are fastened with 4 bolts each that run through the bottom of the bracket and come through the hull. The nuts for these bolts are accessible under the floor panels. I would first check to see if you have these brackets, even if only one or if it is damaged. You could contact Hunter Marine to see if they have them (doubtful)if you're missing one. Otherwise you could have one fabricated from the one you have. One of the Port side bolts which fasten the centerboard bracket also has the mast ground attached to it. Good Luck, I'm sure it;s a doable repair. Pete

Thanks Pete

Any idea where I might find specs.. or at the very least a picture of a rudder for a Hunter 22? I did find the anchors, pin and plastic collar that surrounded the pin. A friend tells me he knows of someone who can mfg the whole kit. the rudder on the other hand... I don't hae a clue what it should look like. we're going to rebuild the keel...I guess I'm going to learn how to do fiberglass! Thanks for your feedback, it's much appreciated.. and nice to know that I'm not floating around out here on my own.
