I am a new owner of a 1983 H22. I could use some of your help. I would like to replace the cockpit drain hoses on my H22. It appears that the only way to get to them is through the port side locker. I attempted to remove the wooden bulkhead on the port side for easy access. After removing the screws and making an attempt, it appears that the wooden bulkhead was installed before the deck above it was installed. I'm not sure how to remove it without doing damage to the bulkhead. Please share with me how others have replaced the drain hoses. The current configuration of drain hose does not appear to be the original design. The two drain hoses come down to a "T" (which appears to match the original design drawing). The "T" is connected to the scupper tube with what appears to be hard pvc pipe (it's all taped up so I can't tell what it is except that it is solid). The "T" sits lower than the scupper drain. The low position of the "T" appears to be a place for water to accumulate. This configuration is not leaking at this time. My concern is that it may freeze and break this winter. My H22 is a fixed keel model that will live in the water between bottom paint jobs. One more question for H22 fixed keel owners. I removed the table top in order to view the forward keel bolts. What I see under the table is solid fiberglass. How do you view the forward keel bolts? Thanks for any help.

The aft scuppers

The aft scuppers on the H22 are really hard to get to. The best solution is a very small person or a child. I tried to remove the bulkhead the same way that you did.....it doesn't come out. I have had to get my wife, who is 5'6" and 115 lbs, to help me when I was working on that area (I had some issues with the bottom gludgeon which if you are intersted e-mail me and I will detail you on what happened). I used fiberglass resin to patch a small leak that was on the part of the scupper that dropped down from the deck, not the hoses. I thought that the same problem might occur with the water freezing, but it hasn't happened yet (I went through last winter). I don't think that it will become a problem because it hasn't been an issue yet and my boat is a 1982. Good luck and let me know what you did with the back scupper. Oh, if you know anything about a replacement stove that will fit in the same area the current stove sits in let me know
