H2 Time for Maintenance.

I have come to the realization that I will have to do some maintenance this fall. I plan to find a barn or warehouse to get out of the weather. Planning to remove all hardware. I want to drill out all the screw holes and fill with epoxy then retap the screws. Then sanding down the entire deck and repainting. I've got some hairline crazing going on. Trying to decide if I need to add something for antiskid in places. Figure I might as well do the hull as well while it is out. Plan to photo chronicle it too. Also, I sail in fresh water almost exclusively. May trailer it to the coast once I get it presentable.

Now I am open to suggestions of products such as epoxy, paint, etc. And any other ideas or recommendations are appreciated.

Oh yeah! I'm really interested in ideas for lifting it off the trailer to get to the hull when the time comes. I've seen videos of using the tongue jack to raise and lower the stern onto some type of stand. Which I will need to build too.

This is how I painted the bottom while on the trailer. We used 4x4s to hold the boat and dropped the bunk boards. I hot the idea from this forum and enlisted local brains and skill. We didn't paint the 4x4s so Lowes didn't mind taking them back. "I didn't need them."

Remember most bolts are tapped and threaded into aluminium plates encapsulated in the glass. Therfore, I would not fill them in but rather clean off the caulk and when reinstalling, caulk and tighten fittings back into place.

THX Dave. Can I assume if the screw keeps turning as though it's stripped that it was not tapped? Or when I remove items such as the lifeline stanchions, will it be evident?

On my H22, I have seen many of my deck items have nuts on the ends of what I thought were just screws... check underneath... you may find them as well... especially in the aft section where all the cleats and blocks are.

Generally, if you go below into the cabin and cannot see any access plates or bolts with nuts on them, you can assume what I stated and that being the case, the threads are stropped out which I would suggest going to the next larger size bolt. Check that out and get back with us on what you find before going any further.

Last thing i did was to have the micro beam built and ready to go. lowered the boat bow onto the micro beam and shored up a quick cradle for the bow.

i had a god idea in how high to make the front brace. had that ready to go and then quickly assembled it before letting al the weight off of my jacks and jack stands. worked well. lived under that set up for 5 months with no issues.
