Peggy, Having read your articles... which are quite informative, what are your thoughts about the occasional use of ordinary 3% hydrogen peroxide (inexpensively purchased at grocery, etc, stores) to flush out head discharge lines. Since the odor producing offenders are mostly anerobic wouldn't the H2O2 help remove these (sources of odors)? And since the "good" bacteria in the holding tank are airobes it should help them grow. I wouldn't think H2O2 used occasionally would harm hoses any more than urine, etc.

H2O2 won't dissolve urine crystals...

and seawater calcium carbonates. A cupful of white vinegar down the head once a week will...also inhibits odor...and won't interfere with the bio-activity in the tank.
