Over a year ago I installed a stock holding tank new hoses and appurtenances in my 79 H 33. It has performed very well. The permeating aroma from the old installation is gone. Locker space is compromised very little. Most gratifying is the extraordinary way gravity alone drains the holding tank when offshore. I have posted the installation in the photo forum. Will try to answer any questions from H 33 owners. tgarnold1@msn.com

Interesting photos

I replaced my H33 holding tank a couple years ago with a simular tank. I didn't think of suspending it high like you did. I strapped it to the flooring parallel with the bulkhead where the old bladder tank hung. It makes it a pain to get to the stuffing box to make adjustments, having to loosen the straps, and shove the tank over while I squeeze in. How is your tank suspended? Ken Palmer, S/V Liberty

Ken Palmer Response

The tank is not suspended. It is supported by a properly chamfered 2x4 fastened to the hull. As the photo forum article indicates, first the tank was shoved into the space as high as possible, properly leveled, bottom marked, and then the supporting 2x4 is fastened to the hull. After setting, the tank is just slid on top of the 2x4 back into the space. The top is completely secured by the confining space into which it is inserted.
