H 356 yanmar question

What is the screw cap attachment on the hose located in the front of the Yanmar engine for.It resembles a garden hose attachment with a srew off cap.I`ve had yanmars in the past but never had that attachment.In fact theres one on the inline side,on the backside of the water heater.

A photo would be good, but I would assume that they are for winterizing your engine.

I have heard that when you flush the engine and then put in new coolant it can be used to bleed the air out of the system. You attach a hose to that connection and put a funnel on the end of the hose. Raise it up above the engine while it is running and it will allow you to add more coolant as any air in the system comes out as it passes through that fitting. I will be trying this soon so I'll report if it really does work that way :)
