The Starting key switch for the Yanmar 3GMF on our '83 H-34 sometimes needs a little wiggle to make contact. It always starts and runs and I've been watching to make sure my altenator is working. Is this a serious problem that is just beginning and should I replace it now to ward off Murphey's Law. Thanks for any info.

Murhpy lurks around the corner

It sounds like it can quit when you least expect it. I replaced my keyswitch a few years' ago when I ruined it with a screw driver. I bought the replacement from Yanmar for $35 at the time. It was easy to replace and took about 15 minutes. It even came with two keys! And you know how much those could cost!

Switch it

I also have an 83 Hunter 34, The switch was replaced before I got it. Seems to be a part that wears faster then ordinary car type ignition. You know Murphy!

Key broke off in mine

Replaced mine a few years ago when the key broke off while still in the switch. I made sure the new switch was such that I could remove the key when the ignition was on or off. BOL PJ
