Here is a picture of the electrical panel on our 1979 H-33 the previous owner had moved it up from the original position to the inside port aft bulkhead. It must have been allot of work but after being in a 33 with the original configuration I really appreciate it. I need to do something to cover all the wiring going up to it. Any suggestions? We're not Alone!

I did pretty much the same thing to my 1983 Hunter 33 except I kept the box a bit smaller to accomodate an opening port through which I can operate the radios mounted above the panel. I left the battery selection switch down by the batteries where it belongs. Short battery cables are good battery cables. All of the wiring, of which there is an amazing amount, both A/C and 12 volt DC is run up in the space between the hull and inner liner. The only evidence of it is the small holes I cut in the liner for fishing the wires through, and those only if you know to look for them. Safer for the wiring also. Check the picture set in the link, showing panel open and closed. The port is visable behind.

Seems like a bunch of us with that boat moved

the panel from ankle height to eye height. Like Ed, I kept the battery switch in the original location, close to the batteries. As an added benefit the new panel box also covers the backs of the sailing instruments which protruded through that bulkhead.
