H-26 Cabin Table Bottom Attachment

The previous owner of my H26 removed the table support cone so the table could be lowered onto the cabin seats. The bottom of the table was screwed directly into a supporting nylon ring on the compression post. The screws have stripped out of the table bottom. I have checked the archives. There are some great table mod ideas there, but few ways to attach the table at the bottom onto the compression post. There was one great method posted, but it involved aluminum welding. Any more good ideas on attachments. I'm really looking for a method that won't need support legs under the table. Thanks, BrianW

If the screws would hold in the table, would

the nylon ring hold the table up OK?If so, get some flat head (like a wood screw head) machine screws, counter sink them into the top of the table (if you don't have a countersink bit or rosebud bit, you can use a metal bit as big as the screw HEAD, with great care) and through bolt the ring.

I just removed the table on my H26 and cut the table support cone off the compression post. Had I known, I would have saved it for ya. However.. removing the table will be the best re-model I've done on the boat yet. See the archives for all the different things people have done. I installed a folding teak cockpit table in place of mine.
