Does anyone know how much space is between the cabin floor and the outer hull. It seems that water has gotten in that area and is weeping into the keel-bolt wells. I'm considering putting an inspection port in the floor under where the step is located coming in from the cockpit. Then if there is enough room possibly installing a bilge pump.

*that* water

The water builds up in between the hull and the floorpan. The are underneath the step and back is doubled - you could cut a hole in the floor under the step, and put a bilge pump in there. You won't be able to get it all, becauce the lowest point is the keel well, but you should be able to get most of it. I'm actually thinking about, when i re-do my floorboards, cutting this area out and putting a removable sole on top of it. Also what helped me a lot, was drilling weep holes in the aft side of the rearmost keelbolt well. That's where all the water hides!

that!! water

On my boat there is already a hole in the aft keel bolt well.... there appears to be a hole in the fore and aft of each well. Guess I'm going to Westmarine tonight to get a pump and screw-in port hole.
