Silly rudder kept getting in my way when I was setting up/knocking down the boat. I then found out I was wearing out the top of the tiller extension as it kept getting under the tie-down strap while traveling. Also, sometimes I had to leave the tiller to run forward to help inexperienced crew and wanted something simple to hold the tiller for a moment. So, I installed two eye straps, one port and one starboard, and a bungee. To temporarily hold the tiller. I simply run the bungee from one eye strap, over something on the tiller, then down to the other eye strap. The friction alone is enough to temporarily hold the tiller. This is the kind of solution I revel in: Simple to use, keeps out of the way, and CHEAP!
