Spent this afternoon helping a friend track down a problem with a Raymarine auto pilot. Looked and checked and looked and checked. Seemed like it would be something major, as soon as you hit auto, it wanted to make a hard turn to starboard. After several calls to tech support, and checking the compass and the rudder sensor and other stuff, we found the problem. His wife had stored a small vacum in the locker, directly behind the gyro compass. Moved the vacum cleaner and problem solved. Be careful what you put close to the compass.
