Gunnels that won't drain

I have not had my 1976 cat. 22 out since I bought it. It was in rough shape then I got it and it needs alot of work. While I have been working on it, I have noticed that rain water collects along the gunnels. It got me to wondering if water would stand in those spots then the boat is in the water. Has anyone had this problem, if so how did you solve it?

Probably not

If your boat's on the hard, the angle at which it's jacked up is probably what's causing the water to pool. I don't own a 22 (well, I did for about 5 minutes last year), but I'm pretty sure there are scuppers of sorts for drainage. LaDonna

No problem

I have a C22 and I have no problem with water collecting along the gunnels when the boat is in the water. On land it does collect when I wash it and when it rains but like LaDonna said it's at a different angle when it's on the trailer and it's not moving around. Short answer: don't worry about it. Do you have any pictures of your restoration project? Keith K. Vesta

RAISE THE BOW

I have a '76 that does the same thing when on the trailer. Just jack up the bow and the water will run off and the cockpit will still drain. Mine would also collect on the seats, they now drain aft then forward once on the cockpit sole.
