I have two silver ribbons that run from the engine to the keel bolts and from the water tank to the keel bolts. The have turned green and have corroded in the bilge. I need to replace. Are they the engine or lightning grounds? Can I replace with copper wiring? Can't find this material anywhere. Any suggestions or advice would be helpful. It's a 1991 First 285

Same problem

I recently replaced a strap from the engine to the fuel tank. I guess it's purpose is just to avoid static build up. I used 10 gauge copper, insulated. I am a an electrical engineer by profession, and my instincts are that this was fine... But, perhaps there are special circumstances when engineering boat ground systems, so certainly get what advice you can from Beneteau or others...
