No Grounding Plate
First, the mast of the 30 is deck mounted. On vessels with masts mounted through the deck, you might see grounding wires form the base of the mast to the keel bolts but not in the case of the 30. If you follow the upper and lower shroud support plates into the cabin these are tied into the teak bulkheads. The forstay goes to a support bracket and into fiberglass as with the aftstay. I have not seen anything grounded to the keelbolts on my model (1988 Mark II). I would not worry too much about it Julia. Their is much written on grounding, lightening protection on vessels and measures you can take on the water. I am no expert on the subject, but I have been caught in dozens of lightening storms and have yet to experience even a close strike. Bob
