I have a 1986 Hunter 28.5. Both of the cockpit locker hatch covers, and the small ice chest hatch cover, are supported by what appear to be hard black rubber grommets with a screw in the middle. I need to replace all of these grommets. While I could probably fabricate a suitable substitute, anyone know a source for these little beauties?

Try this, it'll work!

Warren, Check out www.mcmaster.com, I just bought some of the same as the originals and some oversized. Cut and paste one of the model numbers below, in the "find" box on their site and it will bring you to the page. 1 9540K55 - Recessed Rubber Bumper $14.57 W/Washer,3/4"Base Dia, 13/32"Proj,5/16"Top Open W, Packs of 100 1 9540K58 - Recessed Rubber Bumper $13.04W/Washer,7/8"Base 17/32"Proj,3/8"Top Open W, Packs of 50 You will need to measure yours to make sure you get a similiar replacement. Good Luck, Mike D

That Macmaster-Carr page (searched under "rubber bumpers"), was incredible! Looks like they have everything. Thanks!

Grommets's

Home Depot toilet Seat grommets about 50 cents a piece. Stern ladder same program. Same stuff real inexpensive. Easy to get to & buy. Just don't tell them it's for a boat other wise they'll want to make it up about 279%.

But are the Home Depot toilet seat grommets "marine grade?" (smile).... I did contact Hunter and, much to my surprise and delight, they did have them in stock @ .49 each.... Thanks to you all.
