Groko K backfills somewhat and handle moves

Recently after the head is flushed, the handle slowly moves forward and about a cup or so of water slowly flows back into the bowl; when I flush again, the process repeats. Sometimes bubbles come up from the flapper in the process. Used to be intermittent. Now pretty constant.

I checked the vent and it’s very clear. Waste goes down normally, so I don’t see how it could be clogged between the toilet and the tank.

Any ideas before I just start rebuilding the thing?

Is the back flow fresh water or not so fresh water?

Joker valve is the first choice.

Flapper valve may not be sealing well either.

It could be as simple as a badly worn joker valve that's allowing backflow into the bowl...but only if the toilet discharge line runs uphill..in which case, rebuilding isn't necessary...just replace the joker valve.

However, As I said in my reply to you on cruisersforum, The Groco K is wonderful toilet but it starts to exhibit some squirrelly behavior at around 20 years of age that rebuilding won't fix...the most common of which is recirculating bowl contents. So before doing -or especially buying-- anything, I suggest you have a chat with Groco tech support....they're very helpful. 417-604-3800

All of you should find this Groco Model K info worthwhile. Groco Model K instructions

Thanks all. Great suggestions.

Peggie, thanks for all of your info. I dont think the unit is very old. The previous owner listed the head as replaced in 2018, so it should have plenty of life left.

I will report back if I find anything.
