Green slime growing below rub rail

On a new to me H38 from 2005 I noticed green slime growing on the underside of the rub rail to hull joint in the middle 2/3rds of the hull on both sides. There is also a small amount of growth on the top of the rub rail where it meets the hull. The green stuff removes easily with a brush and water.
The boat is located in an area of low humidity but with a very wet AM marine layer that burns off by noon. I assume there is a gap between the hull and the rub rail that the moisture passes through and grows where the sun don't shine. I'm asking if the fix is to remove the stainless rail cover and tighten the screws holding the rub rail to the hull or is some caulking needed on the topside of the rub rail to hull joint, or is there another (or no) solution? Thank you for your information.

The fix is to accept that growth happens in a marine environment and rinsing/brushing your boat regularly is normal and good.
Mostly what he said... but also getting a nice coat of wax on it (when its clean obviously) might help shed the water faster, which in turn will give less opportunity for growth...

@stuartsw knows from whence he speaks. In Seattle moss between ones toes is common for a visitor. You know the natives... We have webbing..

A good rinse, scrubbing, rinse will put the algae back where it belongs back in the marina waters.

I have the same issue on my 466. A good stream of water is typically sufficient to remove it. I had some damage to my port side several years which required the removal of maybe 1/2 of the rub rail. There was no "slime infiltration" behind the rub rail. It just appears to accumulate on the the top and underneath so fellow Hunter owner do not let your heart be troubled.

Same situation on my 2008 38 here in Michigan.
When I wash the boat I just take the deck brush and clean under the rub rail.

Sounds like too easy of a solution for a boat. I was hoping for a big project to keep me busy.

Same green growth here in Florida and needs cleaning often and wax makes easy cleaning don’t
try removing stainless screws.
Wax and clean often best solution.
