DC on is correct

Paul, those lights (lamps) always burn out. Replace by calling Seaward or get a replacement lamp at Radio Shack or forget it, like we have for 9 years.

Never Worked

Mine has never worked in the 5 years I've had the boat - from new!

Apparently mine is burned out too...

Mine used to work. I remember because it lit up the galley area with a green glow at night. I forgot all about it though, until reading this thread. Apparently the bulb is burned out now because I don't recall seeing the glow lately. I don't miss it.

I replaced mine with a red LED step light

so the panel is always lit and there is some ambient light in the cabin at night. Turned out a little brighter than expected but they sure don't burn out.

One way to reduce the glow

is to buy a 24 volt replacement lamp. It burns only half as bright and rarely will burn out.
